Irony, thy name is Spitzer

What's happening to Elliot Spitzer is ironic. He prosecuted money launderers and prostitution rings, and he gets caught because of suspicious bank transfers which leads authorities to his whore mongering. To make matters worse, Spitzer signed a law that increased the penalty for sleeping with hookers from 3 months, to one year in prison.

Unlike Alanis Morissette, I can use the word ironic in a sentence. She wrote a whole song about irony, but the only thing ironic about it was that nothing in the song was ironic. Anyway, Alanis, if you are reading this, irony is what is happenning to Elliot Spitzer. If you are facing jail time for violating a law that you created...that's ironic.

UPDATE: HERE'S SOME NEW YOU TUBE VIDEOs ABOUT HYPOCRITE ELLIOT SPITZER

I'd even say it's magically delicious in its irony.

I hate that guy. I hope he goes to jail

He broke the law and deserves to be gone from office, BUT what about Republican Senator David Vitter who was named by the DC Madam as a customer of her prostitutes, was not prosecuted, and received a standing ovation from his fellow Republican senators? What about Congressman Mark Foley, who chased teenage male pages who he was supervising and wasn't prosecuted?

There's something fishy going on here regarding prosecution of Democrats by the Bush Administration, especially since, rightly or wrongly, johns are rarely prosecuted. This comes after new revelations about the Karl Rove-orchestrated prosecution and imprisonment of another Democratic governor, Don Siegelman of Alabama. I don't think this story is over yet.

yccm: I never liked that guy. People who go out of their way to appear morally upright always seem really phony to me (and they usually end up being phony).

anon: I hope so too.

media: I think Vitter should go to jail too. Jail shouldn't only be for the great unwashed. Politicians should never get a free pass.
