Random Fridayness

Well, I got my computer fixed today, hopefully for good. It was acting up worse and worse and I thought it might be something other than software. I tried to erase everything on my Mac to get rid of all traces of LimeWire and hopefully purge the machine of the sins of online music theft, but the machine couldn't find the Harddrive so it was dead.

I previously took it to the Apple store in Rockville, which was very helpful. (this is in contrast to the store in Clarendon where the "genius" was busy hitting on a girl who was clearly out of his league and didn't help at all). The helpful store told me that a harddrive replacement is about $400-500 bucks and they'd give me the same 40gig harddrive, but mentioned that I could get a better deal at an authorized Apple repair place. So big ups to Macupgrades.com who did the repair the same day, charged me $240 and gave me an 80 gig harddrive. Sweeeeet. I don't know what I'll do with all that memory. If I wasn't catholic, I'd be filling it up right now with stolen music and porn. So hopefully I can blog more efficiently and less stressfully now. I'm also taking a few days off work so you might actually see a few posts where I actually get some real work done.

In other news, I don't know why I'm surprised when I encounter an assjack who litters, but I saw one the other day (tuesday). A stupid girl in her 20s eating fast food that I hope will kill her one day. She was walking up Connecticut Avenue stuffing her self-invovled face when she drops a bunch of napkins and keeps on walking. I stopped my conversations and said "excuse me miss, you dropped something." She looks at the napkins and realizes that it's not her credit card or antything else that would matter only to her own sorry ass and says "oh...that's just napkins". And walks away. So I said "oh...it's just napkins, huh? I guess that means it doesn't count, right?" She turned, gave me a dirty look and walked away.

Now, you know I'm not afraid to be political on my blog, so I will take a stand on one of the most controversial issues in geo-political thought: littering. I'm offically taking a stand against litteiering. I'm against it. That's right, I went there!

So I hope that self-important assjack reads this and realizes that karma will ensure that her pathtetic existence will never improve becasue the universe is saving up its Karmic goodness for people who aren't so self-absorbed that they can't stop stuffing thier stupid faces for the 5 seconds that it takes to clean up the mess that themselves made. Annnnnnndddd exhale.

I've been against litter my whole life, but in a moment of teenage rebellion, I once deliberately dropped a styrofoam soup container (empty) in the gutter.

And a middle-aged lady yelled at me. (I didn't pick it up, but I sure felt guilty.) I never did it again. So much for being bad.

It's also up to the city though. I mean, I have lost track of how many times I have walked down M street and the garbage is overflowing. Disgusting! Why can't the district pick up garbage more regularly? I've seen this in Dupont and Chinatown as well. Garbage flies all over the place and makes people care less. Whereas if you keep the place spotless, you can shame them (usually) into using the trash cans.

My two pesos worth.

I'm anti-litter, and getting worse and worse. I've gotten to the point that if I am within arms length of someone's disgarded paper on Metro, I take it with me to the nearest recycle bin. Often, that means my house or office.

Good for you. I was behind someone in traffic the other day...they were cleaning out the ashtray or something. The various passengers kept tossing bits of trash out. This went on for BLOCKS. I was so trying to get my car up next to theirs so I could yell something rude, but figured that might get me run off the road or something anyway. What is the deal with people?! It's trash! Sheesh

Okay, we have a serious difference of opinion here. I'm totally pro-litter. When I see someone throwing their empty Coke bottle in the trash instead of letting it roll around a Metro car, that's when I get PISSED. Trash doesn't belong cooped up in the prisons of gargabe cans! I belongs free to let the wind and gutter return it to its proper place, to spawn and carry on its litter heritage! Up with litter! The more the better!

I hate it when people litter. When I was in high school overseas I used to yell at my friends who would throw trash anywhere they pleased, and I often got the argument, "We pay people to pick it up. If I don't throw this on the ground then someone won't have a job to do." Pissed me off. You know you are surrounded by some pretty snotty pretentious asshats when people start coming up with shit like that to say.

Oh and I'm sorry if I was slightly incoherent when I spoke to you on Thursday... I was a little drunk...
